Sindh Advances Towards Electric Taxis, Supports Investor Initiatives

The Sindh government is moving quickly to start an electric cab service in the area. A meeting was recently held in Karachi between Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and officials from GAC and Dewan Motors, two Chinese automakers. Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, Dewan Yousif Farooqui, Chen Wen, GAC’s General Manager Chu Song, and other officials were among the important people who attended.

Chu Song gave a thorough presentation on electric cars and the different ways that electric taxis could be used in Sindh. Minister Memon told the Chinese delegation that the government of Sindh would fully back and cooperate with their investment. He stressed that the government would provide the necessary infrastructure, such as charging stations, as well as make regulations easier to understand and a business-friendly environment.

Minister Memon said that these electric cabs would provide modern and safe transportation while also cutting down on carbon emissions and supporting long-term environmental health. Besides that, he said that the service would make new jobs available in the area. It was also reported that a “Pink Taxi” service would be created to help women get around safely and reliably. As soon as possible, the government wants to speed up the rollout of these electric taxis so that people can use them for eco-friendly and easy transportation.
