The United Nations gave the prestigious Gender Advocacy Award to two Pakistani women soldiers in honour of their outstanding service. Major Sania Safdar, who worked for the UN in Cyprus as part of the policing Mission, and Major Komal Masood, who was sent to the Central African Republic, were both recognised for their outstanding dedication to policing.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both officers were very professional and dedicated during their assignments. Their work made it much easier for women to play an active role in peacekeeping missions, showing how important women are to promoting peace and stability.
This award not only recognises the outstanding work of Major Safdar and Major Masood, but it also shows how dedicated Pakistan is to its UN peacekeeping duties. The award shows how important it is to treat men and women equally in peacekeeping efforts. It also opens the door to a more inclusive approach to resolving conflicts and promoting safety around the world.
